This week's lesson (#58) was about God's holiness. We read about the death of Uzzah in 2 Samuel 6. Even though Uzzah is just trying to help prevent the ark from falling, he is a sinner touching what is made holy according to God's presence. In reading this account, we are taught what it is to have a holy fear of God.

The kids read from 1 Samuel 16-17, David and Goliath (Lesson #57). Teaching this very familiar lesson is a good opportunity to help the kids see that, though David was used mightily by God, the real hero of the story is God.

Thanks to everyone who came caroling with us at the Golden Living Center! Did you see the joy on so many of those faces?!

As a king, Saul failed. One day God would anoint another Man to be king who would not fail. Even when it was difficult, Jesus (the greatest king) obeyed God.

The Israelites insist on having a king, so God chooses for them a man who is tall, handsome, and wealthy. The people like Saul because of his impressive appearance. He looks like a leader on the outside.
