samsonstrengthLesson 49

This week we learned more about how God humbled Samson, who had become prideful in the great strength that God had given him. Proverbs 16:18 tells us that pride goes before a fall. Indeed, Samson is deceived in his foolishness and blinded and thrown into jail.

Having mercifully learned humility, Samson calls upon the Lord, who gives him strength to defeat the Philistines one last time.

We too can get distracted by the world and caught up in our own pride. Might the Lord be mercifully letting us fall in areas of our lives that we may fix our eyes upon Jesus, the One who died, that we may live!

Our memory verse this week is Romans 5:18-19 :

“Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.” (ESV)
