Good News

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

This Jesus reads from Isaiah 61 in the synagogue in Nazareth. And then he looks up and tells everyone that the "me" that Isaiah was referring to, was in fact, him! He would be the One to proclaim liberty to captives, like us! Had we been there in that synagogue, it's doubtful whether we would have been any better than his hometown neighbors in believing what he was saying.

But I thank God that he caused me to be born again (last week's lesson) and recognize that apart from his life, death, and resurrection, I'm enslaved and condemned by my sin. He is my great Liberator and Savior. Revel in the opportunity this week to share and rejoice in the coming of the Good News (Lesson 10)!

Emergency Evacuation

This Sunday, weather permitting, we will be practicing our emergency evacuation in Promise Kingdom. At 9:45 the teachers will lead their classrooms out the nearest exit to the area near the garage, take attendance, then lead them back into the building.

If this were an actual emergency, the adults would also exit the building and parents would retrieve their children after being released by the teacher. If an alarm were to sound, we do not want parents swarming downstairs to pick up their children. We will get the kids to a safe location as quickly and as safely as we can.

I wanted you to be aware in case you look out the window to see your child outside! It might be a good idea to dress them in long sleeves for Sunday. We will postpone the drill if it is pouring rain.

See you Sunday!
