AchenThis morning's lesson was from Joshua 7 (Lesson #45). We learned that Israel is defeated by Ai because Achen decided to take some silver and gold for himself after being commanded through Joshua that these were to be reserved for the Lord. We see that we cannot hide our sin from God and that He takes sin seriously. Achen is put to death by hanging.

We all deserve to be punished for our sin as well. The penalty for even one sin is death. Jesus took the penalty for our sin at the cross so we can be forgiven. All those who trust in the Lord had their sin paid for on the cross. Hallelujah!

Our memory verse for this week is a little shorter than what we've had recently:

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you. (Psalm 32:8)

Each family should get a CD that has all the worship songs we will be singing this year. It would be great to put that in your car's CD player and let your children become familiar with the songs as you drive to school or to the grocery store. If you didn't get one this morning, pick it up at Check-In next week.

Hope you enjoyed this wonderful day God gave us. Have a grace-filled week!
